Interferences

Inadequate sample volume or contaminated specimens may lead to invalid or false-negative results.

Improper storage or extended transport time can degrade bacterial DNA.

Presence of antibiotics in the wound at the time of collection may affect bacterial yield and detection.

Misc Instructions

Clearly indicate antibiotic exposure history, if known.

Avoid using swabs with wooden shafts or calcium alginate tips, as they may inhibit PCR.

For multiple wounds, collect separate specimens and label accordingly.

Do not submit dried swabs or those collected with transport media intended for viral or anaerobic culture.
