ORDERING RECOMENDATIONS: For newborns, please order either test MEC9 for meconium or DRUGCA for umbilical cord.
If these specimens are not available, this urine panel (PDQMS) is recommended for screening children 0-1 y.o.
Turn-around time is 36-48 hours.
If a more rapid test is needed for treatment please order drug screen DRUGU.
However, test PDQMS is more sensitive and specific than the DRUGU screen.
