Collect 1 mL whole blood into each of 4 tubes in the QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus collection kit
The black mark on the side of the tubes indicates the 1 mL fill volume (min: 0.8 mL, max: 1.2 mL)
Total volume required: 4 mL whole blood
At altitudes of 3,350-6,150 feet (most sites): Collect 1 mL whole blood directly into each of the four tubes of the QuantiFERON-TB (High Altitude) Gold Plus In-Tube collection kit
At altitudes below 3,350 or above 6,150 feet: Collect 4 mL whole blood into a syringe. Transfer 1 mL into each of the four tubes in the QuantiFERON-TB (High Altitude) Gold Plus In-Tube collection kitPrior to incubation, all 4 tubes (whole blod) are stable for 16 hours at room temperature
After incubation & centrifugation, all 4 tubes (now with plasma) are stable at:
Room temperature: 24 hours,
Refrigerated: 28 days,

HANDLING!
Immediately after filling tubes, shake them ten (10) times just firmly enough to ensure the entire inner surface of the tube is coated with blood.
Over-energetic shaking may cause gel disruption, and could lead to aberrant results. Shake firmly, but not violently.
Tubes must remain at room temperature prior to incubation.
If the blood is not incubated immediately after collection, re-mixing of the tubes by inverting 10 times must be performed immediately prior to incubation.
After mixing, and within 16 hours of collection, incubate upright at 37 C for 16-24 hours.
After incubation, centrifuge for 15 minutes at 2,000-3,000 RCF (g).
After centrifugation, store tubes in the refrigerator. Refrigerated: after centrifugation, transport entire contents in each of the 4 original collection tubes
Room Temperature: for sites without incubators, transport entire contents in each of the 4 original collection tubes at room temp. Do NOT centrifuge prior to incubationor
