Separate from cells ASAP or within 2 hours of collection. Transfer 1 mL plasma to an ARUP Standard Transport Tube. (Min: 0.5 mL). CRITICAL FROZEN. Separate specimens must be submitted when multiple tests are ordered. To reduce the likelihood of hemolysis:
1. allow alcohol to dry completely before collection,
2. instruct the patient not to pump their fist,
3. use an appropriately sized need (>25g),
4. collect from the antecubital fossa, and
5. ensure the tourniquet has not been in place longer than one minute.
