Clinicians: order KAHLA test code in iCentra, for H&I testing at Kashi Clinical Laboratories.
Collect according to specimen requirements* for the selected order. Note *pediatric volumes.
An H&I lab requisition form must be sent with specimens. Clients not using iCentra: Print the H&I requisition form at https://kashilab.com/specimen-collection-shipping-requirements/. Collect according to specimen requirements* for the selected order. Note *pediatric volumes. SPECIMEN PREPARATION: Ship whole blood at room temperature.
Kashi shipments will be sent to Oregon via FedEx.
Minimum packaging requirements:
a) Patient specimen(s) in biohazard bag, and
b) Completed requisition in biohazard bag, and
c) Paper towel or similar material for padding, and
d) Shipping box to prevent tube breakage.
Multiple patients’ specimens may be sent in separate bags in the same shipping container. SPECIMEN COLLECTION: Bone marrow transplant testing at Kashi Clinical Laboratories will require different amounts of blood based on the following scenarios:
1. Patient needs both HLA typing and antibody testing: 2 full Lavender (EDTA)
2. Donor is getting blood drawn for HLA typing: 1 full Lavender (EDTA)
3. Patient needs only an updated antibody screen: 1 full Lavender (EDTA)
4. Buccal swab kits will not go through the lab. They are mailed from Kashi to the patient/donor, and back.
