Remarks

To increase the chances of detecting intermittent gastrointestinal bleeding, it is recommended that stool samples be collected from three consecutive bowel movements (over any time period), from two different areas of each bowel movement. A special diet (ask your physician) may be omitted for initial tests, but required for patients whose stools yield initial positive results and are to be retested.
