SPECIMEN COLLECTION: 1 Green PST (Lithium Heparin) or 1 Gold (SST) or 1 Red (Serum) for Calcium testing
or
AND
1 Lavender (EDTA) for Parathyroid Hormone testing.
SPECIMEN PREPARATION: Adult-0.7 mL plasma or serum from Green adn Lav. Pediatric-0.15 mL (150 µL) plasma or serum from Green and 0.4 mL plasma from Lav. STORAGE AND TRANSPORT: EDTA plasma for PTH testing (PTHINT): transport frozen
Lithium Heparin plasma, or serum for Calcium testing (CAPTH): transport refrigerated. STABILITY: EDTA plasma for PTH testing (PTHINT):
Room temperature: 8 hours
Refrigerated: 2 days
Frozen: 2 months
Note: EDTA specimens may be stored on red blood cells not more than 2 days
