3 mL is the minimum amount of blood required to push enough blood into the test cartridge. The test requires the entire tube to be used.
Combining tubes for a larger volume may lead to use of a different tube type which cannot be used with this test. Combining tubes also increase the possibility of contaminating the specimen.
Drawing from a line or PIVO may increase contamination because catheter lumens can be colonized with bacteria and cannot be disinfected appropriately for collection.
